Performance, Lovesphere 22, Greensboro Project Space, 2016

Inspired by Indigo dying technique in Dong ethnic people in Zhaoqing, Guizhou, China, Lu Xu created a sculpture that incorporated performance. The performance took place at Lovesphere 22, Greensboro Project Space, in March 19th, 2016.

Lovesphere 22 is the 22nd installment of a 67-year art festival, founded by Gary Heidt and Lawrence “Lipbone” Redding, that began in 1995 which takes place every year on the Spring Equinox, and now North Carolina; The official website is lovesphere.net. Facebook is fb.me/lovesphere67 or facebook.com/lovesphere67. At 8pm, Lovesphere broadcasted a live solo musician from WUAG-FM, and the musicians at GPS and across the world accompanied them. So, as one walked through the gallery, one could hear the same lead instrument with a constantly shifting rhythm section. Musicians include Dan Ruccia of Cyanotype, Vattel Cherry (the legend), Gwen Young of Knives of Spain, Gregory Miles Hoffman of Cenote, Sara Jane Mann of Van Reipen Collective and 1=0.
